Cloth for the Cradle

The Wild Goose Worship Group suggest a simple and moving way to help a group of people celebrate Advent.  ‘Cloth for the Cradle’ can be found in the book of the same name available from www.ionabooks.com.  Strips of coloured cloth are placed on a bare orange crate or cradle in preparation for the arrival of Jesus.  Words and music for the song ‘Cloth for the cradle’ are provided.

This works well with either small or large numbers of people.  Just make sure you have enough strips of cloth for everyone to have one. If used on Advent Sunday the colourful cradle can remain a focal point for the whole of Advent.

This action, with permission from Wild Goose Publications, is included in an Advent evening prayer setting in our Creative Ideas for Evening Prayer published by Canterbury Press www.canterburypress.co.uk.
