Food during Lent
Suggest that every family has a ‘poverty meal’ one night a week in Lent when they eat a simple meal of rice with a glass of water. The following Sunday ask the children to speak about what this was like.
Make biscuits and invite your neighbours in to share them.
Invite someone from the congregation that you do not know to come for a simple meal in your home.
When you cook a meal cook an extra helping and take it round to someone who lives alone, or has just come out of hospital, or has just had a baby.
Try to buy more Fair Trade food during Lent.
Try not to throw any food away during Lent.
Don’t buy any bottled water during Lent. Instead carry one bottle and refill it from a tap.
